George Charles Haite R.I., R.O.I., R.B.A., R.B.C. 1855 – 1924

A highly talented artist, Haite worked in both oil and watercolour and as a designer produced wallpaper, leaded glass and metalwork.

The son of George Haite the designer he received little encouragement from his father and was largely self taught.

He arrived in London in 1872 and his early years were devoted to design work. He later turned to painting and became very successful, he first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1883.

He was elected President of the Langham Sketch Club and President of The Institute of Decorative Designers.
