Kitty Stirling
Kitty Stirling studied Fine Art at Chelsea and Byam Shaw Schools of Art during the later 1980’s and her Master of Arts at City and Guilds of London Art School (2015-17). Her work is widely collected and has been represented by Caroline Wiseman Modern and Contemporary and Cassian de Vere Cole Fine Art. Selected exhibitions include The Bath Society of Artists 111th Annual Exhibition (2016), ING Discerning Eye (2015/2014), Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition (2012) and Lyn Painter Stainers Prize (2010).
In the present exhibition a series of semi abstract paintings focus on views in and around the Quantock villages of West Somerset, though without topographical specificity. The independent life of paint and the spatial properties of pictorial composition assume more importance in these works than observational accuracy. Her return to Watchet brings her back to a country where she in part belongs and to whose inimitable landscape her work so effectively relates.
