An outstanding marine painting by George Bunn, a relatively early impressionist artist of whom little is known.  He had an address in London at the time he exhibited individual works at the Glasgow Institute, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Hibernian Academy.

The confident and assured style employed by the artist may suggest that he had studied on the continent.  Further research will no doubt reveal more.
