Allan Sutherland lived in Glasgow and exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Glasgow Institute and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water-Colours.

With a talented artist such as Sutherland it is interesting that he ceased to exhibit after 1915 but this was in fact very common as World War I claimed the lives of many promising painters.
