James Campbell Noble R.S.A. 1846 – 1913
James Campbell Noble was born in Edinburgh, studying first at the board of manufacture in Edinburge and later at the school of the Royal Scottish Academy under J.P.Charles and McTaggart where he won the Keith prize.
He exhibited in London at the Royal Academy in 1880 and was elected as a full member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1892.
