Description

189 x 49 x 31cm.    c.1830.

An excellent example of an eighteenth century Welsh Oak Longcase clock by David Mondey of Brigend.

The movement is of thirty hour duration and of birdcage construction with fine turned brass pillars. The dial is very finely engraved with a silvered chapter ring, the makers name ‘David Mundey’ and Bridgend engraved and silvered on the centre of the dial. Spandrals and hands appear to be original.

The oak case has a crossbanded door and is supported by bracket feet, it has an excellent patination.

David Mundey is recorded as a clockmaker working in Bridgend in 1769.
