Bronze Sculptures

Fernand Lorrain   fl. 1880 - 1920
'Sheltering from the rain'
 (signed) £1,200.00

A. J. Dalou   1838 - 1902
'Le Grand Paysan'
  £3,250.00

Dalou was much occupied with the theme of the nobility of the peasant worker and executed a series of this subject.  This model was developed in full size form (6' 8") as part of his scheme for the Monument au Travail, the plaster being exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1902.  Since the figure was conceived at the end of Dalou's career the bronzes were cast by Susse.

Walter Schott (German)   1861 - 1938
'Girl playing with a ball'
  £2,200.00

This Bronze dates from 1897 when full scale marbles of the clothed and unclothed versions were exhibited at the Grossen Berliner Kunstausstellung (untraced).
Two 136cm bronze versions from 1898 exist in the alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin and the Graf-Olatz in Dusseldorf.
Both Meissen and the Gladenbeck edited this acclaimed model.
Schott based his delicate composition of the dancing Isodora Duncan on this work.
Schott was also responsible for the celebrated 'Dancing Girls' in Central Park, New York.
